Identifying priority
issues
Collecting and analysing
information, and consulting people and
organisations with an interest in the place, is
likely to uncover issues that could affect what you
need to do. As you may not be able to deal with all
of the issues, you will need to set
priorities.
One good way to do this is to
enlist the help of a representative group of
stakeholders to identify those issues of most
concern and which are considered
important.
These questions may help to
identify the high priority issues:
- will the situation worsen
if something isn't done about it?
- can or should other
groups or organisations take responsibility for
this issue or problem?
- do we have the knowledge,
skills and resources to deal with this problem?
If not, are we likely to be able to develop
these in the near future?
- who do we need to enlist
as partners to address the issue?
